Feng
Shui In Your Child’s Room
By Joy Abrams MA, FSII
Your children are growing, curious, alive,
reactive, and creative human beings. They are unique and evolving
to reach their complete potential. Your children have their
own ideas and their ideas should be respected in creating
their space. They spend a third of their early lives in their
bedrooms. It is important to keep these facts in mind when
you help to create a special room for them. When creating
their space always have a feng shui practitioner help you
with proper directions and placement.
However, to get started here are some
suggestions:
Their bed position is relative to their best direction but
should have a view of the door.
Keep the central sector of their room fairly open so that
they can play there if they wish.
Have furniture in their room that is their scale.
Bunk beds are restrictive to the child that sleeps on the
bottom bunk.
Sleeping under skylights, shelves or beams is not appropriate.
Create screens or separate quarters if two children share
a room.
Generally speaking the colors of green and blue are good for
a bedroom. However, a feng shui practitioner can do a personal
consultation that will tell you what colors would work best
for each child.
Always help your children choose artwork that is age appropriate
and that would enhance their living experience.
