Feng
Shui Your Closet
By Joy Abrams MA, FSII
You woke
up this morning and had to step over things in your closet
and were really unable to find the items that you were looking
for. You tell yourself that you feng shui-ed your house and
cannot understand why you are feeling so confused.” Feng Shuiing”
your closet is a continuing process as you are always putting
new items in your closet and removing old items from your
closets. The more that you keep everything in your closet
organized and up to date the better mood you will have when
you start your day.
So you
ask me what should I do. Where do I start? I say work on the
50 percent rule. Make at least 50 percent of your closet’s
volume space empty. Yes, you read right, empty is what I said.
There should be enough space between your hanging items so
you can actually see what is there without a major physical
workout to get to your items. If there is stuff on the floor
it should not be touching the hanging items.
Remove
any and all unnecessary unused or broken items
Use the 50 percent rule
Ask a friend to help you toss items out
Purchase all identical hangars and throw out the bent ones
You will feel so much lighter and will not miss the things
that you gave away or donated. Clearing the clutter helps
you to see things more clearly and open pathways and opportunities
for you that you could not have imagined.
