Your Home Altar
By Joy Abrams MA, FSII

Most home altars are of a religious nature. However, not all altars need to be perceived as that. Feng Shui is all about bringing the wonderful energy called chi into your place so that it could work for you in your home surroundings and your lives. An altar can be a special focus point or area to manifest your own creativity or just a collection of personal items that expresses your interest or special joys in your life. For example you may have an altar that is just made up of auspicious flowers, or perhaps you would like to have an altar that is made up of items that resonate with the earth element. It might then be made up of rocks and crystals. It is up to each one of you to decide what works for you in your special place that you create.

Here are some simple tips for you to follow when setting up your altar:
Decide upon your intention in setting up your altar
Decide where you will place your altar in relation to feng shui principles
Place items in your altar that relate to the area of the room that will up the chi in the area
Use your colors and shapes of items based on Feng Shui principles
Create your own special area as a place that you will resonate with. You will feel great about looking at it and sharing the special chi you create in your altar with others.
