Book
Review For "The Buddha Wept" by Rocco Lo Bosco
By Joy Abrams
Rocco Lo
Bosco paints a clear and poignant view of his protagonist
Ona who lives a simple poetic life until disastrous changes
came to the Cambodians under the rule of the Khmer Rouge regime.
The ghetto conditions that Ona survived are very similar to
the conditions of the holocaust. Her spiritual determination
and poignant nature is an inspiration to all. The forever-unanswered
question is posed here to us all. That is why do bad things
happen to good people, and how do they survive this tragedy?
The answer lies in Ona’s determination to transform her suffering
into something meaningful.
We all
need to read books of this nature as we are all connected
to one another and get solace from one another. It is important
for us to be vigilant and not allow such persecution and suffering
to happen again and again…..
